How it Works
In essence, a tattoo entails the containment of ink trapped within the dermis layer of the skin, a process typically administered using a needle. As a natural defense mechanism, the body then encapsulates the ink within the skins collagen fibers, securing the tattooed ink particles firmly within the dermis. Laser tattoo removal effectively disrupts this ink and break it into small micro-particle fragments.
Following the fragmentation of ink by laser tattoo removal, the considerably smaller ink pigment fragments become detectable to the body’s natural immune system. Recognising these fragments as foreign objects within the dermis, the body initiates a process over several weeks to expel these smaller ink fragments via the bodies lymphatic system. Within our Laser tattoo removal Hull clinic, we ensure the highest degree of professionalism and standard, taking time with all client to talk them through the whole procedure and the science so they have full confidence in us prior to treatment
The Right Laser for the Job
Utlising our range of tattoo removal lasers, we are able to offer four different wavelengths of laser light that can be emitted using either the ND Yag lasers, Picosend or Ruby lasers, enabling them to break up many different coloured ink pigments. These wavelengths are extensively 1064nm, 543nm, 755nm and 694nm. These wave lengths are perfect for breaking up Blacks, Blues, Greens and Red Inks, they can also break up combination colours such as browns, pinks, purples, turquoises. So if looking for laser tattoo removal Hull & Yorkshire look no further that Redeem Clinic as we have the most comrehensive range of tattoo removal lasers in the region.
Breaking Down the Inks
As advised Redeem Clinic use four different wavelengths of laser light can be emitted using the ND Yag lasers, Ruby lasers and Alexandrite lasers (Picosecond) enabling them to break up different coloured ink pigments.
One of the other crucial element of any laser is the power output the laser can ultimately reach. In order to achieve the highest degree of fragmentation as well reach deeper areas of the skin, necessary for total removal, Redeem Clinic have invested some of the most powerful and effective lasers in the industry.
With lasers capable of variable laser point spot sizes, lower, less intrusive energy level can be used via ‘large spot size’ treatment capable of fragmenting ink in the top layers of the tattoo. Pass this point, reducing the spot size help concentrate the higher laser energy levels. necessary to reach the pigment deeper in the skin, ensuring the best opportunity for removing the ink in its entirety.
Immediately after treatment the top layer of the skin will appear white/opaque, this is the effect of the laser heating the fluid in the epidermis layer of the skin and will subside approx 15 minutes after treatment.
Once the white/opaque area has subsided the skin will usually have some redness to the treated area. This is the body’s natural defence to the process being used to remove the ink pigments and shows that the immune system is working properly.
An effective immune system is critical to ensure the fractured pigments can be expelled from the body to give the best possible results. Over the several weeks after the treatment it is important that the patient stringently maintains the aftercare procedures to reduce the risk of scarring whilst also reducing the redness more quickly.
At Redeem clinic, all of our clients receive post treatment aftercare consultations, instructions to take home as well as topical creams to help repair any trauma and help the skin recover as quickly as possible.
After a single laser tattoo removal treatment the tattoo should start to fade. Redeem advise to wait at least 8-12 weeks after the area has been treated and wait until the area has fully healed before booking a further laser treatment. The longer you leave the area to heal the lower the risk of scaring on the next treatment and the more effective the immune system will be at removing the inks. Dependent on the tattoo location, size and pigment density etc it can take as little as 3 treatments to fully remove an amateur tattoo and up to 12 treatments or more to fully remove a large professional tattoo.
Tattoos containing colour mixes other that black, such as blue, browns, greens and reds can prove somewhat more difficult to break up (although in most cases this simply results in additional treatments being required), so for more complex and larger tattoos Redeem clinic suggests a treatment to a more unmanageable area at each session, resulting in a much more effective result and reducing the risk of trauma.
